Overcoming Suspicions and Stereotypes

As you may know, I was recently on a nationally syndicated radio program in Canada. I was told that the program has eight million listeners. This was not a Christian program, but a secular program. I came away realizing what a terrible thing the so called "Christian right" the "Moral Majority" and in some ways Christian TV has done to the American public. The respect for the clergy that was universal when I was a child is now completely gone. Before I can speak my message, I have to overcome the suspicions and stereotype that the general public and especially those in the media have about me. It is sad, difficult and challenging. I am so convinced that something must be done. I am not convinced that I am the best one to do it. I am convinced that no one else is saying what really needs to be said and done. Most everybody plays the game for personal gain. Consequently, I, us, we, together must try and change the opinion of the world about what it means to be Christian. Keep praying.

Talk soon,

P. Steve
